compatible with this Toddler Restraint (see below). Read this section
carefully. If in doubt, return to the dealer for help.
Length of Seat Belt
Lap belts and lap-shoulder belts will work with the Toddler Restraint,
if the belt length is long enough to fit into the slot on the Toddler
Restraint. If the seat belt is not long enough, NEVER use the Toddler
Restraint without the Impact Shield. Use an alternative vehicle
seating position.
1. Place the Toddler Restraint onto a compatible seating position
with nothing between it and the seat. Adjust the vehicle seat back
so that the restraint lies flush against the seat. Adjust the vehicle
head rest into lowest position to further support the child’s head.
2. Sit the child down in the restraint.
3. Place the impact shield on the armrests of the restraint, in front
of the child’s abdomen. The slot for the vehicle’s seat belt should
be on the front side, away from the child.
4. Pull the seat belt out partially, but not completely.

Rear Seating Positions are Safest
B. Tighten the seat belt
According to accident statistics, in a vehicle with rear designated
seating positions, children are safer when properly restrained in
rear seating positions than in front seating positions. As a rule, if
the appropriate seat belt is available, use the rear middle position.
The second choice is the rear outboard position, on the curb side.

off the front passenger-side airbag ONLY in BabySmartTM equipped
vehicles. It MUST NOT be used in the front seat of vehicles

airbags should refer to their vehicle owner’s manual for child restraint
installation instructions.

A. Without inserting the seat belt into the belt guides of the restraint,
fasten the seat belt buckle.
B. Fit the lap belt section into the belt guides on both sides of the
impact shield, through the slots of the guide, and pull snug.
C. Carefully guide the shoulder belt section along the lap belt section
and insert into the belt guide slots.
D. Make sure the belt is not twisted.
E. Without unbuckling the seat belt, pull the seat belt out completely
then feed back until the restraint is snugly fitted.
